State Senator Kel Seliger to announce clean coal legislation
Kel Seliger Press Release - January 13, 2009
MEDIA ADVISORY
From the Office of State Senator Kel Seliger, District 31
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 13, 2009
PRESS ADVISORY -- Sen. Kel Seliger, R-Amarillo, will announce the filing of clean coal legislation, which would allow Texas to be the first state to site clean coal facilities that sequester at least 60 percent of the carbon dioxide (CO2) that they produce. The captured CO2 would then be used for valuable enhanced oil recovery projects in Texas.
Seliger will be joined by Railroad Commission Chairman Michael Williams, PUC Chairman Barry Smitherman and Former U.S. Secretary of Energy Don Hodel.
Sen. Seliger sits on the Senate Committee on Natural Resources. He was the author of the FutureGen legislation that passed overwhelmingly last session. Rep. Phil King, R-Weatherford, Rep. Rafael Anchia, D-Dallas and Representative-elect Tryon Lewis, R-Odessa, as well as other invited members of the Texas Legislature will also be present.
